Papa's Parrot Essay

There are so many things in kids’ lives like school, sports and friends.  They don’t realize that their parents belong on that list.  The short story ‘’Papa’s Parrot” by Cynthia Rylant teaches kids that they need to spend more time with their parents.

There are things that can happen to a parent if his child ignores him.  One thing a parent may experience is a fair amount of frustration.  A example when their kids do not do their chores.   A common thing is they get depressed.  Being depressed can cause disturbances in eating and sleeping patterns.  Another condition parents may experience a life threatening heart attack. These are the thing can happen to a parent if their child ignores them. 

Most parents will give their child a consequence.   One of a common consequence is grounding.  Grounding is when a person cannot do some things for a certain amount of time.  If they ignore them because of a chore they may add another chore. Each dissection you make has a consequence.  Like in the story “papa’s parrot” had dad had a heart attack and his son realized that he should spend more time with their parents.

            The short story teaches kids that they need to spend more time with their parents. If kids don’t, they will get lost in the world in school, sports and friends.
